50 Shades of Yoga: Props, Straps, & Blocks, OH MY!

50 Shades of Yoga: Props, Straps, & Blocks, OH MY!

Because I couldn’t help myself, I wanted to give you guys a handy little guide to all the yoga accouterments you could ever need in your play roo– I mean yoga room 😉 Oh, and have you seen the 50 Shades movie yet? I haven’t and have not read the books either, but still want to see what the hype is all about! But I’ll wait until it comes out on Redbox so I don’t regret spending $12 on a terribly cheesy over-the-top chick flick, haha. Also– how do you like the ridiculous picture up there?! The Frenchman made it and it cracked me up! ANYWAY!!! Here’s what I got for ya: 1.) Yoga Blocks.  I think two is the magic number, but if you have space to keep four on hand, I’d roll with that. I only have two for the moment but always find myself wishing I had a couple more for different restorative postures. My favorite brand is Manduka, but at $16 a pop, if I’m buying 4 at a time, I’d just go with these which are totally acceptable and will get the same job done. I found these on Amazon. 2.) A sturdy yoga mat.  This is a no brainer, but I can confidently recommend two: Manduka’s Black Mat Pro and Lululemon’s The Mat. I have a closet full of every brand out there and they do nothing but collect dust! My favorites are tried and true.           Manduka ‘Black Mat Pro’ Pros: it will last a lifetime and ages like a fine wine! It offers just enough cushion for...
Wanderlust Day 2: Hippie Weirdness is ALIVE

Wanderlust Day 2: Hippie Weirdness is ALIVE

I woke up bright and early at 6:15am all ready to go, but since I’m a total slow poke in the morning, I didn’t actually leave my hotel at until around 7:30. I got breakfast up the road which was a freaking BOMB latte and an everything bagel. You know what they say: Be the full fat latte in the sea of low-fat soy chai. … or something like that. Anyway, at 10am I went to a lecture from Sarah Copeland which I expected to be incredibly lame (just tellin’ you the truth!) and ended up being really great. I’ll be writing all about the interview I had with her over on Lululemon’s blog later this weekend, but for now I’ll tease you with this: the name of her lecture was based on her new book and called “Have Your Cake and Your Veggies Too. And as you know, any woman who’s a friend of cake is a friend of mine, so needless to say, it was awesome. The rest of my day was spent defacing public property 😉 And then masterfully crafting my disguise as a hippie. Now they’ll never know it was me 😉 I’ve been hennaed: Face-painted: And tatted up with these babies: Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve been assimilated. I crashed at the hotel until a farm-to-table dinner which was a culinary experience from the master herself, Sarah Copeland. I tried to be stealthy and not take a million very obvious pictures all night, but here’s a sneak peak: Homemade local charcuterie including pate, dried fruit, various cheeses, and fruit preserves, and pickled veggies. Seriously my...
Bad Yogi Shopping Guide: Yoga Pants!

Bad Yogi Shopping Guide: Yoga Pants!

I think it’s so awesome/funny that at least 20% of my daily emails are to ask where I get my yoga pants, and I’m even more glad I’ve captivated you for such deep, meaningful reasons, lol. Ok, I’m just messing with you 😉 But, if you’ve been wondering where on Earth to find some funky, summery yoga pants, you’re asking the right person because if I’m honest, I do consider myself somewhat of an expert 😉 I really can’t resist a gorgeous pair of yoga leggings (it’s a problem, actually!) and luckily, I had no shortage to wear while filming MyYogaPro. For those of you who have been asking, here’s where I get my favorite ones: Liquido Active. I’m obsessed with these. They’re so incredibly soft and never dig in anywhere. I have to admit that I wore these off the mat all the time too, so they work pretty much everywhere, if you ask me! Onzie. Onzie has always been a favorite of mine. They’re especially awesome for hot yoga because they dry super fast when you sweat. They fit great and change up their patterns every few months so you’re never short on choices! Lululemon. Notice the black leggings NOT being see-through. Win. 😉 But really, these have been my go-to black leggings for years because they’re so durable and fitted. Seriously, I have the same pairs that I’ve worn for 5+ years and wear them all the time. Another bonus: they won’t move around or ride up even when you’re working hard. Kira Grace. All of their designs are extremely elegant and streamlined, so they fall...
