10-Minute Yoga Sequence for Easing Cramps

10-Minute Yoga Sequence for Easing Cramps

I get this question at least once a day: “what poses are good to do when your cramps are so bad, you hardly want to get up, let alone do a full yoga class?!” Luckily, Yoga has a few tricks up its sleeve and I’ll share a 10-minute sequence of poses that’ll bring you some relief. The best news is, they actually work! 1) Child’s Pose – 1 minute 2) Kneeling Lunge with Twist (Right/Left) – 1 minute each side 3) Extended Side Angle (R/L) – 1 minute each side 4) Seated Forward Fold – 1 minute 5) Low Bridge – 30 seconds 6) Supine Twist (R/L) – 1 minute each side 7) Happy Baby – 1 minute 8) Reclined Bound Angle – 1 minute In addition to this sequence, there are a few other things that will help, too: 1) Stay away from lots of dairy. I find that if I’m getting a lot of cheese or milk in my diet, I tend to feel worse around that time. 2) Stay hydrated! Don’t be shy with your water intake. I know that when your’e bloated, drinking water feels like the opposite thing to do, but trust me– it’ll keep your body happy. 3) Drink Raspberry Leaf Tea. I bought a box of this stuff a couple months ago and it’s seriously a miracle worker. Whenever I start feeling cramps coming on, I drink a cup of this stuff and like magic, they subside. 4) Don’t skip your yoga! Even a few minutes will be better than nothing. You’ll feel the difference if you can bring yourself to your mat. Also feel free to...
Bad Yogi Engagement Part II

Bad Yogi Engagement Part II

If you haven’t already, make sure you read Part I right here! Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for… *** As soon as we get there, we start taking yoga pictures and he takes a few before stopping me and says, “We should get a picture of the two of us but I’m afraid someone’s gonna run off with my camera, haha.” This was great because literally 6 feet away from us was a legit photographer taking pictures of random stuff with a camera even nicer than ours and I was like, “You should ask that guy– he looks like he knows what he’s doing!” So he gives “that guy” (his name was Vlad but of course, I didn’t know that yet) his camera and he was super nice about it, taking a bunch of pictures of us just standing there together. We eventually thank him and walk away a little bit, snap a few more yoga pictures until Adrien says he wants to take a selfie with his big-ass camera! It’s the DSLR that we film with and it’s quite heavy and cumbersome to maneuver, even with two hands let alone one. I was like, “that’s a terrible idea– the pictures the other guy took look fine!” Adrien walked us DIRECTLY in front of Vlad’s lens to take this ridiculous selfie and I was just thinking “oh my god… *facepalm*… we’re right in his way…” Of course, Vlad saw Adrien struggling with his camera and offered to take more, which I started feeling bad about because he was clearly working on something else. Vlad was pretty into...
The Bad Yogi Engagement Part I

The Bad Yogi Engagement Part I

If you saw my Facebook post from a couple days ago, you probably know that the Frenchman and I are engaged! It was seriously the most ridiculous, crazy, insane, emotional experience of my life and I’m still waiting to wake up. Since I know I love nosy details about everyone else’s life, I wanted to share exactly how it all went down 😉 *** It was 8:30am early on Friday when he looked at me over breakfast and goes, “We should totally do a photo shoot today in Time Square before we leave NY, right?” (Lie #1*). It was cold and a little overcast and I have an unreasonable aversion to putting my bare hands on a dirty public street, but I knew it’d turn out super cool, so I very hesitantly agreed and secretly hoped something else would come up. He hardly ate breakfast and kept checking his phone while acting SUPER anxious. I asked him what was up and he said he was just nervous about flying home… he doesn’t love flying, so I didn’t think much of it. Plus, I thought he was trying to coordinate a surprise dinner or something, since it’s totally not unusual for him to do something like that. He told me he had to step out to call his mom (Lie #2*) and said it might be a while, so he suggested I go shopping across the street after I was done eating. I was happy to have some down time since we’d been running all over Manhattan doing as much stuff as possible for the past 6 days, so I...
Bad Yogi Wine List

Bad Yogi Wine List

Hey guys! What’s up this week? I’m filming a Yoga for Weight Loss series, planning for a massive project set to launch next year, writing a E-BOOK which will be available in November(dropped a bomb on ya there ;)), among other things such as obsessing over my little pug friend that we’re babysitting: Now, as you know, I drink wine. Not in excess (hopefully that goes without saying, haha) but a couple times a week we pick up a bottle of something new, or just an old favorite and enjoy a couple glasses with dinner. I’m not a connoisseur but thought it might be fun to share some of my favorites with you. Because let’s be real: none of us know what we’re looking for when scanning a zillion labels in Target or Total Wine anyway, right? 😉 In no particular order… 1) Apothic Dark. This is super juicy and pretty sweet (at least I think so)! Lots of berries happening in this one, which makes it really smooth and easy to drink. I think it’s really pretty in the glass too: almost black it’s such a deep red! Plus, I definitely love that it’s only $11. 2) 337 Cabernet by Noble Vines. I don’t know why, but this surprised me; I thought it was going to be really bad but it turns out it was pretty good! I think a lot of times this style of modern packaging holds wine that’s just ehhh… Anyway! Not too sweet and a little spicy with some pepper or spice in there, and it’s $12 where I buy it 🙂   3)...
Bad Yogi Approved Green Smoothie + A Confession Session

Bad Yogi Approved Green Smoothie + A Confession Session

How do you know you’ve found a green smoothie recipe that will stand the test of time? I’m not sure, but a good indication is that I’ll not only drink it, but LIKE it. I’m here with a great, go-to green smoothie recipe that I know you’ll love, so stay tuned for that below… So, I go through my emails every morning to respond to your questions and read the stories you send me about your journey and life, and it’s one of my favorite parts of the day. Sometimes you make me cry with how heartfelt you are, and other times I’m laughing out loud! I love that you trust me with your stories and your practice, so in the spirit of sharing (and over sharing, haha), I wanted to do another Bad Yogi confessional because let’s be real: getting nosey is fun! 😉 1) I have a guilty pleasure (actually, I have many!) and as of late that’s watching garbage TV passively. Each morning after I wake up, I go downstairs to ship your bad yogi tanks and respond to urgent emails and while I’m doing that… *drum roll* … I watch old episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians! DID I JUST SAY THAT OUT LOUD?! I know, I know– people with some sense of pride aren’t supposed to voluntarily admit to watching such nonsense, but I DO and I don’t know why! I just can’t look away… Can we still be friends anyway? PLEASE?! 2) I’m gearing up to teach at the Princeton Yoga Center in a few weeks and I’m SO NERVOUS! I know I’m...
