Bad Yogi Wedding Plans: Part One

Bad Yogi Wedding Plans: Part One

I really really SWORE I wouldn’t talk much about wedding planning because I REALLY thought nobody cared. Like, honestly– I”m a yoga teacher, not a HGTV show host! Turns out, I get about a billion questions a day about what we’re doing, haha! Super surprised by this but also super excited because I’ll be honest with you: I’m REALLY excited… we both are, actually. So I love talking about it and doing cheesy things like buying ALL THE MAGAZINES and planning every little detail. Yet I’m not one of those girls who’s planned this day since she was 5-years-old, so all of this is really new to me. Whole new world! As cool/fun/sometimes overwhelming as it is, we’re not stressing about anything though. The marriage is the important part; this is basically just a fancy party 😉 Answers to your most popular questions: 1) We aren’t getting married until 2016 and not until the weather is cool, AKA NOT in Summer. Also, NOT on a beach because after living in Florida my whole life, I can tell you that sand is not sexy. And it will get every where. Every. Where. It will end up in your eye, up your nose, in your sandwich, and in your underwear (HOW?! I don’t know but it is the LAW of sand.). 2) I haven’t decided if I’m going to change my name… legally, I probably will, but I love being a MOTZ! So I’ll always be Motz in my real, non-legal-documentation life 😉 3) We’re going to have a pretty small wedding, partially by choice and partially by default because it’ll...

Bad Yogi Tries: Carrabba’s Tasting Tuesdays!

Bad Yogi Tries: Carrabba’s Tasting Tuesdays!

I got invited to Carrabba’s headquarters last week to try out their new wine + food pairing called Tasting Tuesdays. I was a little hesitant initially because honestly, Carrabba’s doesn’t exactly scream “inspired” to me, you know? Granted, it had been years since I’d been there but that didn’t stop me from passing judgment, haha. I’m just being honest with you guys! Luckily, I was totally proven wrong! Like that kind of “proven wrong” where you actually feel embarrassed for making assumptions. Turns out, it was really fun! I met with the director of beverages, Ken Lennox, who picks the wines that get included in the experience. Before I go on, let me just tell you: this guy really knows his sh*t. I’ve done my fair share of wine tastings and I always feel a little out of place. The way he explained everything was so simple and accessible, it made it really easy to understand and I felt like I actually learned something instead of just watching an “expert” drone on for an hour. Sure, we talked about how to taste wines “properly” and what to look for, but he really emphasized how they encourage people to taste their wine selections, which I loved. It’s not a right vs. wrong approach, it’s simply a way to see what you like. He made it clear that everyone’s individual experience will be different, and we should step away from the thought that experiencing wine has to be a super exclusive, fancy-pants thing. What tastes fruity to one person might taste more like vanilla to someone else. What I think pairs...

Day In The Bad Yogi Life: Travel Edition + Wanderlust Pics

Back in the day when I had an office job, I would stare longingly at my Facebook, stalking my favorite bloggers, dreaming of having the life of a full-time traveller. I thought it’d be the best thing ever and sooo effortless and glamorous. Turns out, I was right about it being the best thing ever, but totally wrong about the effortless/glamorous part, and I don’t even travel full-time! <– blogger/yogi fail! I had to find a way to keep myself occupied on a ridiculously early flight to Austin, so I went ahead and documented it for you because I know how fascinating a play-by-play of someone’s grumpiness is… 😉 #not 3:50am: alarm goes off because we have a 5:20am plane to catch. If I were to be dramatic here, I could burst in to big, baby-like grumpy tears and then collapse in a heap of exhaustion and attitude right now. But like I said, that’s if I were being dramatic… 4:30am: arrive at airport just in time for them to tell us we have to pay $25 to check a single bag. LOVE WHEN THAT HAPPENS YESSSSS– said no one ever. I thought security would be deserted, but turns out, everyone loves to fly this early! W-T-F. 5:45am: flight attendant gives me thimble-sized bag of pretzel dust and looks insulted when I ask if it’s empty. She moves on to the next row and I’m over here like THAT’S RIGHT WALK AWAY. 5:48am: open-mouth cougher to my left has started making a cacophony of sickly sounds. I give him the side eye then wrap my entire face (from nose to neck)...
