How do you know you’ve found a green smoothie recipe that will stand the test of time? I’m not sure, but a good indication is that I’ll not only drink it, but LIKE it. I’m here with a great, go-to green smoothie recipe that I know you’ll love, so stay tuned for that below…
So, I go through my emails every morning to respond to your questions and read the stories you send me about your journey and life, and it’s one of my favorite parts of the day. Sometimes you make me cry with how heartfelt you are, and other times I’m laughing out loud! I love that you trust me with your stories and your practice, so in the spirit of sharing (and over sharing, haha), I wanted to do another Bad Yogi confessional because let’s be real: getting nosey is fun! 😉
1) I have a guilty pleasure (actually, I have many!) and as of late that’s watching garbage TV passively. Each morning after I wake up, I go downstairs to ship your bad yogi tanks and respond to urgent emails and while I’m doing that… *drum roll* … I watch old episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians! DID I JUST SAY THAT OUT LOUD?! I know, I know– people with some sense of pride aren’t supposed to voluntarily admit to watching such nonsense, but I DO and I don’t know why! I just can’t look away… Can we still be friends anyway? PLEASE?!
2) I’m gearing up to teach at the Princeton Yoga Center in a few weeks and I’m SO NERVOUS! I know I’m no stranger to teaching, but I’ve never been able to kick my nerves when getting up in front of a new group of people. It might seem kind of weird considering I do what I do, but I’m actually really shy and pretty quiet behind-the-scenes. SO, if you’re coming, prepare yourself for corny jokes due to awkward nervousness 😉 It’ll be a great time!
3) I made a green smoothie, drank it, and LIKED it! I’m gonna have to share the recipe, because if this self-proclaimed green smoothie hater can enjoy it, I know you guys will too 😉
Sorry for the awful pic! Just a quick iPhone snapshot.
Take 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 2 cups raw spinach, and blend those on high until no green chunks are left.
Add 1/2 cup frozen peaches, 1 banana, and 1/4 of an avocado and blend on high again until smooth.
Next, add 1 heaping spoonful of your favorite nut butter (I used peanut), a scoop of protein powder (I use Jarrow Vanilla brown rice protein), a squeeze of raw honey, and a few drops of vanilla extract. Blend it all up again. Last but not least, add a handful of ice and blend one last time until super silky smooth and drink immediately. Yum!
